Moon Geumjoo: "Local Public Enterprises Should Actively Participate in Renewable Energy Projects"

‘Local Public Enterprises Amendment Bill’ Passed by the National Assembly

Moon Geumjoo: "Local Public Enterprises Should Actively Participate in Renewable Energy Projects" Geumju Moon, Member of the National Assembly.

Democratic Party lawmaker Moon Geumju (Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, Gangjin in South Jeolla Province) announced on the 14th that the "Local Public Enterprises Amendment Bill," which he proposed last August to enable local public enterprises to actively enter the renewable energy business, passed the National Assembly plenary session on the 13th.

The amendment allows the entry of local public enterprises into the renewable energy business to be specified in the Local Public Enterprises Act and its Enforcement Decree.

With the passage of the amendment in the National Assembly, it is now possible to revise the Enforcement Decree as well, paving the way to raise the bond issuance limit for local public enterprises promoting renewable energy projects.

Moon stated, "To respond to the climate crisis and the risk of local extinction, we must open the way for local public enterprises to actively participate in renewable energy projects," and added, "I will also thoroughly oversee the revision of the Enforcement Decree."
