Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) announced on the 14th that it has once again proven its reputation as a prestigious institution for teacher training in Korea by producing numerous top scorers in the 2025 teacher recruitment exams in Seoul, Incheon, Gangwon, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk regions.
According to the list of successful candidates for the teacher recruitment exams recently released by provincial and metropolitan offices of education, Lee Chanhee and Park Jongbeom, who graduated from the Department of Mathematics Education in February 2025, ranked first in mathematics in Gyeongbuk and in information and computer science in Daegu, respectively. The national and public teacher recruitment exam is known for its high competition and rigorous preparation requirements, making it even more meaningful to achieve the top score on the first attempt. Notably, the Department of Mathematics Education (with an enrollment quota of 30) produced a remarkable total of 18 successful candidates for public and private school positions, including these two students.

The Department of Chinese Classics Education also achieved outstanding results, with Hong Serin ranking first in Seoul, Park Arim in Gangwon, and Jeon Jinseong in Gyeongbuk, producing a total of six successful candidates and demonstrating the department’s competitiveness. In the Department of Special Physical Education, Lee Chungnyeol ranked first in Incheon and the department produced seven successful candidates, further highlighting its excellence. The Department of Korean Language Education produced a total of 15 teachers, including Kim Minjeong, who ranked second in Daegu. It is particularly noteworthy that two out of three public Korean language teachers appointed in Daegu in 2025 are graduates of Yeungnam University’s Department of Korean Language Education.
The Department of English Education also stood out. Among the four English teachers appointed to public schools in Daegu in 2025, two are graduates of Yeungnam University’s Department of English Education, and Kim Minji achieved second place in Daegu. In addition, Lee Hongseok, who passed the public school recruitment exam in Gyeongbuk, served as president of the English Education Department’s student association while in school and was appointed as a teacher immediately upon graduation, serving as a model example.
In addition, the College of Education at Yeungnam University produced successful secondary school teacher candidates in all departments, including six from the Department of Early Childhood Education and three from the Department of Education, and produced successful candidates in every region nationwide except Sejong, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, and Jeju, further enhancing its national reputation. These valuable achievements were made possible by the united efforts of faculty and students, despite the challenging environment of declining student numbers and reduced recruitment quotas.
Dean Cho Seongeun of the College of Education at Yeungnam University stated, "This achievement is the result of the combined efforts of faculty and students and is another example proving the excellence of Yeungnam University’s College of Education," adding, "We will continue to actively respond to the changing educational environment and do our utmost to support students in achieving their dreams and growing into outstanding educators."
