Research on the prevention of aging by sunscreen has been conducted from various angles. However, most studies have focused on blocking UV rays on the skin surface. Recently, the importance of research on long-wave ultraviolet rays (UVA), which penetrate deep into the skin and cause skin aging, has increased.
Amorepacific R&I Center focused on the harmful substances called 'free radicals' (reactive oxygen species) produced inside the skin by UVA. They developed sun care technology that can effectively block the generation of free radicals.
Amorepacific verified products applying this technology using BASF's measurement technology. Through this, they secured product development technology that enhances both UV protection and slow skin aging efficacy. The completed UV-R Pro technology is planned to be applied to various sun care products starting with the Hera brand in April.
Seo Byung-hwi, CTO and head of Amorepacific R&I Center, said, "Amorepacific will present a new standard for choosing UV protection cosmetics through continuous collaboration with the global chemical company BASF," adding, "We will continue our best research to provide more innovative slow aging sun care solutions to customers worldwide who are concerned about photoaging."
