Jeonju University Successfully Concludes the 12th Mirae Jeonbuk Forum

Under the Theme "Toward That Infinite Dream"

Jeonju University (President Park Jinbae) announced on the 14th that the "12th Future Jeonbuk Forum" was successfully concluded the previous day at Jinsudang, Jeonbuk National University.


This forum, held under the main theme "Toward That Infinite Dream," was co-hosted by the Jeonbuk National University Bio-Nano Convergence Technology New Industry Fostering Innovation Talent Training Project Group and the Jeonbuk Bio Convergence Industry Promotion Agency.

The event featured lectures by Sun Kyung, head of the K-Health Future Initiative at the Ministry of Health and Welfare and former chairman of the Osong Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, and Cho Inho, head of the Pan-Ministerial Regenerative Medical Technology Development Project Group under the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Health and Welfare and former director of the National Institute of Health.


First, Sun Kyung, head of the K-Health Future Initiative, delivered an in-depth lecture on "The Necessity of the Honam Advanced Medical Complex and the Importance of the ARPA-H Project," discussing the need for an advanced medical complex in the Honam region, the possibilities for medical innovation it offers, and the significance of the ARPA-H project.


Next, Cho Inho, head of the Pan-Ministerial Regenerative Medical Technology Development Project Group, spoke on "The Future of Advanced Regenerative Medicine and Jeonbuk's Role," addressing the development of advanced regenerative medical technologies and the important role that Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province can play in this field.


Park Jinbae, president of Jeonju University, stated, "Medical innovation utilizing advanced technologies is expected to not only improve the quality of healthcare services but also play a crucial role in boosting the local economy and job creation, thereby greatly enhancing the competitiveness of the entire industrial ecosystem."


Kang Gilseon, professor of Polymer Nano Engineering at Jeonbuk National University, commented, "Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province is the optimal location for the advanced regenerative medicine industry, including organoids, regenerative medicine, and stem cell/tissue engineering, and will play a central role in future growth industries. The province should therefore promote these as key projects."


Lee Eunmi, president of the Jeonbuk Bio Convergence Industry Promotion Agency, said, "Through special regulations, Jeonbuk Province can establish autonomous and creative development strategies such as deregulation, support for research and development, and attracting companies. The province is creating an environment optimized for the growth of advanced medical complexes and the regenerative medicine industry. If this institutional foundation is actively utilized, Jeonbuk Province can become a global center of bio-medical innovation, surpassing even South Korea."


Meanwhile, the Future Jeonbuk Forum, which serves as a network think tank leading the transformation of the industrial ecosystem and regional innovation in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, was launched at Jeonju University in September 2023. The 13th Future Jeonbuk Forum, under the main theme "National Advanced Strategic Industries and Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province's Growth Engines," is scheduled to be held on the first floor of Onnuri Hall, Star Center, Jeonju University, on the 9th of next month, co-hosted by Jeonju University and the Jeonbuk Branch of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology.
