On the 13th, at the Blue Canyon Country Club (par 72, 6,550 yards) in Phuket, Thailand, during the first round of the 2025 KLPGA Tour season opener, the Blue Canyon Ladies Championship (total prize money $800,000), she carded nine birdies and two bogeys to take the top spot on the leaderboard with a 7-under 65. World No. 14 Miyu Yamashita (Japan) is tied for the lead, and Park Bo-gyeom is in third place (6-under 66).
Go Ji-woo earned the nickname ‘Birdie Bomber’ by recording 336 birdies in her rookie year in 2022, tying with Yoo Hae-ran for the most birdies. Although she played one fewer event than Yoo Hae-ran, Go Ji-woo ranked second in birdies per round (3.77), just behind Yoon Ina (3.91). In 2023, she made 266 birdies, and last year she recorded 303 birdies.
After claiming her first career victory at the 2023 McCol·Mona Yongpyong Open, Go Ji-woo reached the top again last year at the High1 Resort Ladies Open. In this tournament, she is tied for the lead by one stroke, laying the foundation for her third KLPGA Tour win.
