Gwangju Eastern Fire Station, Jang Minju Appointed as New Female Volunteer Fire Brigade Chief

Gwangju Eastern Fire Station, Jang Minju Appointed as New Female Volunteer Fire Brigade Chief Jang Minju, the 15th newly appointed Chief of the Eastern Women's Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station announced on the 13th that Jang Minju has been inaugurated as the 15th new head of the Dongbu Women's Volunteer Fire Brigade.


The event, held at the Korea Racing Authority Gwangju branch, was attended by Choi Jeongsik, Head of the 119 Response Division at the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, Moon Heejun, Chief of Dongbu Fire Station, Lim Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Moon Soonhwa, Chairperson of Dong-gu Council, Hong Giwol and Kim Yongim, City Council members, Kang Hyungseon, President of the Gwangju Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, and about 150 others.


The outgoing 13th and 14th head, Lee Haengok, joined the Dongbu Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade in 2007 and served as vice-chief and head of the women's brigade. For over 18 years, she has played a vital role in ensuring the safety of the local community, fulfilling her duties alongside Dongbu Volunteer Fire Brigade members even in challenging circumstances.


The newly inaugurated 15th head, Jang Minju, joined the Dongbu Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade in 2013 and has served as head of the general affairs division and vice-chief, consistently working for the development of the volunteer fire brigade.


Jang Minju stated, "From now on, together with the volunteer fire brigade members, I will do my best to fulfill our duties at various disaster sites and strive for unity and progress."


Moon Heejun, Chief of Dongbu Fire Station, said, "I hope that the Women's Volunteer Fire Brigade, led by the new head Jang Minju, will further develop and become a strong pillar in protecting the safety of citizens."
