BPA Participates in China International Friendship Ports Forum... Promotes Busan Port's Global Competitiveness

Busan Port Authority (BPA) participated in the Partnership Ports Salon, an international friendship port forum, held on the 13th in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, China.

BPA attended the meeting virtually that day, introducing the global competitiveness of Busan Port to key figures in the global port industry and highlighting the potential for cooperation with the Yiwu region, which is emerging as a hub for e-commerce logistics.

This forum was an international port network event co-hosted by Zhejiang Seaport Group and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group, with a large attendance of representatives from major port authorities and logistics companies in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Lee Eunghyuk, Director of International Logistics Support at BPA, gave a presentation titled 'Busan Port: Connecting Global Trade, Delivering Value,' introducing Busan Port's position as a transshipment hub in Northeast Asia, its efforts to establish a sustainable smart port, and its eco-friendly strategies.

The Yiwu region is a representative e-commerce center in China, home to the world's largest small commodities wholesale market, and has been continuously growing in the fields of logistics and supply chain. It is connected to Europe via the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train and utilizes the maritime transport network of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port to ship cargo to global markets in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Yiwu City aims to achieve an annual cargo throughput of 120 million tons, 12 billion courier parcels, and 32.05 million tons of rail freight by 2025.

Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, said, “This forum provided a valuable opportunity to share the future vision of Busan Port with friendship ports and inland ports in China, and to further strengthen strategic partnerships among global ports. We will continue to closely cooperate and communicate with major ports to further enhance Busan Port's role as a global logistics hub.”
