Exchange Promotes Value-Up at FIA International Derivatives Conference

The Korea Exchange announced on the 13th that it actively promoted key initiatives to enhance the value of the Korean derivatives market to major global institutions by participating in the 'International Derivatives Conference' hosted by the International Futures Industry Association (FIA) held in Boca Raton, USA, from the 10th to the 12th (local time).

The conference, organized annually by FIA in March, celebrated its 50th anniversary this year and was successfully held with about 2,000 high-level officials from global exchanges, regulatory agencies, and the industry in attendance.

At this conference, the Exchange requested cooperation from major investment institution executives, including Jan Boomaars, CEO of Optiver Group, recognized as the world's largest market maker, through a series of meetings to encourage active trading participation by key investment institutions for the early establishment of night trading in the derivatives market scheduled to be introduced in June this year.

Additionally, through a meeting with Jennifer Ilkyu, CEO of Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), one of the largest derivatives exchanges in the United States, they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two companies, including the listing of Korean index-based derivatives products.

Lee Kyung-sik, Head of the Derivatives Market Division at the Korea Exchange, stated, "Participating in this FIA conference provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with major global institutions and widely promote the competitiveness of the Korean derivatives market. Especially this year, marking the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Exchange's Busan headquarters, we plan to lead the growth and development of the Korean derivatives market through active global marketing, including promoting the hosting of a global conference linked with FIA in Busan."
