This project aims to realize a sustainable energy transition by installing mini solar panels on balconies or rooftops of apartment complexes and single-family homes to produce the necessary electricity for households and expand the distribution of renewable energy.
Of the support funds, 40% will be covered by Gyeonggi Province and 50% by the city. The city explained that this is the highest support rate among the 23 cities and counties in the province.
The available mini solar panel capacities are four types: 390W, 445W, 780W, and 890W. The self-payment amount varies from 84,000 to 200,000 KRW depending on the capacity. Installing mini solar panels can reduce monthly electricity bills by 8,000 to 19,000 KRW per household. Support is on a first-come, first-served basis and may end early if the budget is exhausted.
Interested households can download the application form from the announcement board on the Gwangmyeong City Hall website, fill it out, and submit it by visiting the Carbon Neutrality Division at City Hall or by email.
Park Seung-won, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, said, "We will continue to actively promote renewable energy projects to achieve carbon neutrality and a sustainable energy transition."
