Jeollanam-do held an unveiling ceremony for the ‘Hometown Love Donation Hall of Fame’ at Yoon Seondo Hall in the provincial government building on the 11th.
About 200 people attended the ceremony, including donors listed in the Hall of Fame, heads of Honam Hometown Associations, Kim Yung-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Kim Taegyun, Chairman of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, provincial council members, and representatives of provincial corporations and affiliated organizations.
The event began with the unveiling of the Hall of Fame, followed by an induction ceremony for major donors.
The ‘Hometown Love Donation Hall of Fame’ was established to inspire pride among donors and to permanently honor their noble intentions. Nameplates engraved with the names of donors who contributed 3 million won or more and wished to be listed are installed here.
An online Hall of Fame for donors who contributed 1 million won or more is also operated on the provincial government’s website.
Yang Kwangyong, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Residents Association, stated, “We will continue to promote and actively participate in the Hometown Love Donation program to further contribute to the development of our hometown.”
Governor Kim Yung-rok said, “Thanks to the generous love for hometowns from donors nationwide, we have achieved the highest fundraising amount for the Hometown Love Donation program for two consecutive years. Through the Hall of Fame, we will permanently record the precious intentions of our donors, honor their contributions, and do our best to promote the value of sharing.”
The Hometown Love Donation program allows individuals to donate up to 20 million won annually to local governments other than their place of residence. Donors receive return gifts worth up to 30% of their donation. Donations up to 100,000 won are fully tax-deductible, and amounts exceeding 100,000 won receive a 16.5% tax deduction. The funds are used for projects that improve residents’ welfare.
