At the event, company officials including Lee Yu-gyeong, Head of POSCO Purchasing and Investment Headquarters, Yang Gi-deok, CEO of CIAL Inotech, and Lee Sang-hoon, CEO of Sinan Foundry, attended to share the achievements of last year’s support group activities and this year’s consulting plans.
POSCO operates a win-win growth program that provides support ranging from consulting to finance, technology, education, and market access to build a sustainable industrial ecosystem with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In particular, POSCO is making great efforts to resolve the chronic difficulties faced by SMEs and strengthen their core competitiveness through fundamental structural improvements.
Now in its fifth year since launch, the ‘Win-Win Growth Support Group’ is a specialized SME support organization composed of nine POSCO employees with an average of over 25 years of experience and expertise in various fields. The group conducts customized consulting by directly visiting SMEs facing difficulties in technology development or management in four main areas: solving social value management (ESG) issues, building smart factories, improving equipment and processes, and innovating quality and technology.
From 2021 to last year, the group identified and improved 366 tasks for a total of 97 SMEs, achieving approximately 52.6 billion KRW in financial effects. This year, it plans to undertake 140 new tasks. Through comprehensive consulting support for establishing ESG management environments, selecting, building, and managing win-win smart factories between large and small enterprises, the group aims to create success stories that enhance SMEs’ productivity, quality innovation, and competitiveness.
Head Lee said, “The competitiveness of suppliers and customers is POSCO’s competitiveness,” adding, “We will support strengthening the competitiveness of suppliers, POSCO, and customers alike by supporting smart factory construction and further reinforcing the win-win cooperation system to strengthen the steel sector supply chain.”
CEO Yang said, “We manufacture and supply ceramic containers for heat treatment of secondary battery cathode materials, and we are grateful to participate in the POSCO Win-Win Growth Support Group program,” adding, “We hope to improve product quality and reduce costs through the support group’s customized consulting.”
