This event is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy through the fusion of sports and tourism, and is anticipated to make a significant contribution to realizing the era of ten million tourists in Imsil.
The race will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, the 5th of next month, departing from Imsil Sports Complex, passing through Imsil-eup, Seongsu-myeon, Deokchi-myeon, Unam-myeon, Cheongung-myeon, and other local areas, before returning to the Imsil Sports Complex.
The competition consists of two categories: 'Granfondo' and 'Mediofondo'.
'Granfondo' means 'long-distance ride' and 'Mediofondo' means 'medium-distance ride' in Italian, and these cycling marathon events are held in Europe and other countries.
The Granfondo course covers a total of 124 km, starting from Imsil Sports Complex, passing the turnaround point of the Mediofondo course at Deokchi Hoemun Samgeori, then through Jeongeup Sannae-myeon Office, Unam Cafe Street, Unam town center, and finally returning to Imsil Sports Complex.
In particular, the beautiful natural scenery of Okjeongho and unique local attractions along the way will offer riders a special experience.
The Mediofondo course is 72 km long, starting from Imsil Sports Complex, passing Seongsu Jochi Samgeori, Jangsu Sanseo, Osu Sangsinchon, Samgye Hakjeong, Deokchi Hoemun Samgeori, and Cheongung Moraejae, before finishing at Imsil Sports Complex.
Although it is relatively shorter, the variety of terrain and landscapes makes it popular among many riders.
Both courses are expected to help participants experience the charm of the region and pursue a healthy lifestyle through riding.
The county is thoroughly preparing to prevent safety accidents by repairing potholes and loose gravel within the race sections and improving road conditions so that participants can ride safely.
In addition, in cooperation with Imsil Police Station and the Imsil-gun Cycling Federation, traffic guides will be stationed throughout the race sections, and thorough pre-event training will be conducted to eliminate potential safety hazards.
County Governor Shim Min said, "I am very pleased that, following last year, we are once again able to host a cycling event for cycling enthusiasts from all over the country," and added, "I hope participants will safely complete the race and also visit the Okjeongho Cherry Blossom Festival, which opens on the same day, the 5th, and runs until the 6th, to fully enjoy the spring atmosphere of Imsil's treasure, Bungoe Island."
