Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited Majung Hall at Mapo Central Library on the morning of March 10th for the "Our Neighborhood Environmental Security Guard Safety and Job Training."
"Our Neighborhood Environmental Security Guard" is a unique project exclusive to Mapo District, differentiated from the existing senior job programs, and was launched in 2023 to promote a healthy and vibrant retirement for seniors.
Seniors selected as Our Neighborhood Environmental Security Guards work five days a week, three hours a day, with a sense of responsibility as public officials, inspecting every corner of the neighborhood, conducting local cleanup, and patrolling against illegal parking and unauthorized garbage dumping.
They also engage in various activities for a clean and safe community, such as collecting coffee grounds and milk cartons, and maintaining rainwater drains.
On this day, over 110 seniors participating as Our Neighborhood Environmental Security Guards attended the site to receive training related to their duties and safety.
Before the training, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, stated, "In a super-aged society, it is very important to support seniors' economic activities to guarantee income and promote social participation." He added, "Mapo District will continue to prepare various policies for the secure and happy retirement of seniors." He also urged, "I ask all Our Neighborhood Environmental Security Guards to prioritize safety in their activities."
