'Daeseon' has claimed the top spot in the soju category at Korea's most prestigious alcoholic beverage competition.
Daesun Distilling Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Hongseong) announced on the 10th that its products 'Daeseon159' and 'C1' have been awarded the grand prize at the 12th 2025 Korea Alcoholic Beverage Awards, which is recognized as the largest and most reputable liquor competition in the country.
The company expressed pride in being the only regional soju brand to win, stating that the award reaffirms the exceptional technology and outstanding quality of Daesun Distilling's products as the company marks its 95th anniversary.
At the awards ceremony for the 2025 Korea Alcoholic Beverage Awards held on the 9th, Daesun Distilling's flagship products 'Daeseon159' and 'C1' secured the grand prize. With this achievement, 'Daeseon159' has now won in the under-17% ABV category for nine consecutive years, while 'C1' has been recognized five times in the 17% to under-21% ABV category.
Daesun explained that the success of the two products lies in their differentiated taste and quality, which actively reflect the latest liquor trends and have captivated soju enthusiasts.
The newly renewed Daeseon159, with an alcohol content of 15.9%, contains arginine and enzyme-treated stevia, making it popular among young consumers seeking lighter drinks that suit their preferences. Within just one month of its launch, cumulative sales surpassed 10 million bottles, showcasing the strength of regional soju.
C1 soju, launched in 1996, has built a strong fan base and has been consistently loved for nearly 30 years. It led industry trends by being the first in Korea to add asparagine, and boasts excellent flavor thanks to its patented sound wave aging technique.
Since 2014, the Korea Alcoholic Beverage Awards have been held annually, selecting and awarding the best liquors in each category?soju, beer, whisky, spirits, traditional Korean liquor, wine, sake?through strict and fair judging by a panel of professional tasters.
Choi Hongseong, CEO of Daesun Distilling, said, "Despite the many challenges posed by large liquor companies entering regional markets, we are delighted that our products have received such a prestigious award at Korea's leading liquor ceremony. As stable sales growth leads to regional development, we look forward to continued interest and support from our consumers."
