Cheonan City Councilor Kim Younghan Raises Concerns Over Potential Waste of Taxpayer Money in Seonggeo-Sou District

Criticism: "Administration Even Less Competent Than 20 Years Ago, Not Suited to Local Needs"

Cheonan City Councilor Kim Younghan Raises Concerns Over Potential Waste of Taxpayer Money in Seonggeo-Sou District Land Use Plan and Main Entrance Status of Seonggeoso District Urban Development Project.

Kim Younghan, a member of the Cheonan City Council in Chungnam, stated on the 10th, "There are concerns about the waste of taxpayers' money in the Seonggeo Sowu District urban development project."

During a five-minute free speech at the 278th temporary session, he argued, "Cheonan City is displaying even less competent administration than it did 20 years ago," comparing it to the Sinbang Tongjeong District urban development project that was promoted two decades ago.

He listed the current status of development projects such as ▲Sinbang Tongjeong District (4,000 households, 11 entrances) ▲Yonggok Nundeul District (4,000 households, 8 entrances) ▲Guryong Baeul District (4,000 households, 4 entrances) ▲Sinhung Bangsan Village (8,000 households, 5 entrances).

He continued, "Once the Seonggeo Sowu District project is completed, about 30,000 people?equivalent to the population of Cheongyang County?are expected to move in, but both main entrances and parking lots are severely lacking," and pointed out, "Compared to the Sinbang Tongjeong District project from 20 years ago, the number of households is double, but the number of main entrances is three times fewer."

He further criticized, "The city is causing inconvenience to citizens with development projects that do not fit the local situation," and raised his voice, "Even though two resident briefings were held, none of the residents' demands have been reflected."

Kim questioned, "I wonder if the city is siding with private companies rather than its citizens, and whether these urban development projects are only intended to benefit them," and expressed concern, "If the administration is less competent than it was 20 years ago, only taxpayers' money will be wasted on road construction."
