200 Elementary Students in Grades 4 to 6 to Be Selected by Districts
Covering Busan Events, Reporter Experience, and Special Writing Lectures
Is there any young reporter from Busan out there?
Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) is recruiting the first group of the Busan Children's Press Corps (Kkomabu Busan Press Corps, Kkobugi Corps) ahead of the launch of the Busan Children’s Newspaper ‘Big Eye Dorandoran’ this June.
Through press corps activities where children directly conduct interviews and write articles, the city aims to foster pride in the local community and develop creative writing skills among children.
The first term of the Busan Children's Press Corps will run from April this year to February 2026. The young reporters will cover various events in Busan and write articles, vividly sharing stories of Busan from a child's perspective.
To support the press corps, Busan will provide a reporter kit (press badge, notebook, and cap) and hold a launching ceremony where a professional journalist will offer training on article writing and writing skills.
Additionally, the city plans to enhance the children's article-writing abilities through an annual expert review and feedback session. Outstanding articles will be selected each month, with honorariums awarded, and top reporters will be recognized at the end of the year to further encourage active participation.
To prevent safety accidents during press activities, parental consent is required for external coverage and event participation. Photos and articles produced during press corps activities may be used as promotional materials by the city.
Any 4th to 6th grade elementary school student in Busan who enjoys writing can apply to join the children's press corps. Applications can be submitted online via Naver Form from the 10th to March 27th.
Applicants must write and submit an article of 100 to 300 characters on the theme "The Busan I Want to Boast About."
Busan plans to select about 200 children for the press corps through a random draw among those who submit sincere applications.
To ensure regional balance, selection will be distributed by district, and about 10 multicultural students will be specially selected to promote fairness. Final results will be announced on the city’s website and individually contacted during the first week of April.
Busan City spokesperson Park Kwangmyung stated, "We will provide full support so that the children's press corps can experience reporting and writing with pride in their community," and added, "We hope for active participation as the children's press corps representing Busan."
