Childcare Cafes Open at Parangsae Eye Clinic and Book Garden
Gwangju Dong-gu (District Chief Lim Taek) announced on the 10th that it will operate the 'Dong-gu Childcare Cafe,' a communication space where parents of infants and young children (including pregnant women) can freely share information about pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare over tea, and propose various opinions.
The first Dong-gu Childcare Cafe will open on the 19th at Cafe Comma Parangsae Eye Clinic branch. The second branch will be located at the Dong-gu Public Library Book Garden. The childcare cafes will operate once a month in each region: residents of Chungjang, Dongmyeong, Gyerim, Sansu, and Seonam-dong (Zone 1) can use the first branch, while residents of Jisan, Hak, Hakun, and Jiwon-dong (Zone 2) can use the second branch.
At the childcare cafes, the following activities will take place: ▲ introduction and promotion of Dong-gu's childcare policies ▲ sharing of childcare information through free conversation among residents ▲ suggestions for childbirth and childcare policies. Currently, 15 residents per region are being recruited on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents who wish to participate can apply to the Population and Youth Policy Division, Population Policy Team. Dong-gu plans to collect a wide range of opinions from childcare cafe participants and reflect the actual needs of residents in its policies.
Lim Taek, the district chief, said, "We will do our best to communicate with residents and develop more effective childbirth and childcare policies through the operation of the childcare cafe," adding, "I hope this will be a healing time for our residents who are exhausted from childcare, as they enjoy a cup of coffee."
