30 to 50 Million KRW in Support per Company
...Implementation of Ten Core Commitments Required
Daejeon City announced that it has selected 15 companies to participate in the 2025 Daejeon-style labor-management win-win model, the 'Good Workplace Creation Project.'
The city made this decision after reviewing applications from 28 companies that applied during the public recruitment period from the 13th of last month to the 5th.
Eligible companies were those with at least 10 employees (for manufacturing, companies registered with a factory in Daejeon) that have been operating their headquarters or factories in Daejeon for over three years. Companies that showed a strong commitment to improving workplace safety, working conditions, and fostering a work-life balance culture through measures such as introducing flexible work hours and staggered commuting times stood out in the selection.
By company size, three companies had an average of 50 or more employees over the past three years, one company had between 30 and 49 employees, and eleven companies had between 10 and 29 employees. The total average number of employees at these companies over the past three years reached 533.
The selected companies must carry out the essential tasks among the ten core commitments of the Daejeon model, including compliance with the 52-hour workweek, improvement of safety and health management systems, and workplace awareness training.
Additionally, companies must set detailed commitments for optional tasks such as creating a work-life balance environment, youth job creation, improving relationships between primary contractors and subcontractors, enhancing working conditions, building cooperative labor-management relations, advancing human resource management, and supporting cultural and leisure activities.
The city plans to hold a proclamation ceremony in April and officially launch the project.
Each selected company will receive between 30 million and 50 million KRW in project funding and must complete the required tasks by December of this year. In January 2026, companies that excel in fulfilling their commitments will be certified as outstanding Good Workplaces for three years and may receive up to an additional 30 million KRW in support.
Since 2018, a total of 171 companies have participated in the 'Good Workplace Creation Project,' achieving results such as an average reduction of 3.36 working hours per week, 2,066 new hires, and 633 employees converted to permanent positions as of last year.
Kwon Kyungmin, Director of Economic Affairs at Daejeon City, stated, "We will continue to actively support the 'Good Workplace Creation Project' so that it contributes to creating safer work environments, brings happiness to employees, and provides a foundation for sustainable growth for companies."
