Quality Inspections at 50 Gas Stations Until December 10
Administrative Actions and Prosecution for Violations, Including Business Suspension
Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced on the 10th that it will conduct petroleum quality inspections at 50 gas stations until December 10.

This inspection is carried out to prevent citizen damage caused by the sale of counterfeit petroleum and safety accidents due to the use of illegal fuel.
To this end, the city inspection team (2 members) will visit gas stations in the area one by one to collect gasoline and diesel samples and request quality inspections from the Korea Petroleum Quality Management Institute.
They will also check each gas station's △ compliance with price display regulations △ whether the fuel dispenser re-verification validity period has expired △ and safety management status.
If minor violations are found during the inspection process, they will be corrected on the spot.
In addition, if the quality inspection results, which take about a week, detect the sale of nonconforming petroleum such as counterfeit petroleum or mixed fuel, administrative measures such as business suspension and fines will be imposed, and the case will be reported to the local police station.
A Seongnam city official said, "Due to the sharp rise in international oil prices, domestic petroleum prices are unstable, raising concerns about the distribution of counterfeit petroleum products," adding, "We will raise awareness of illegal activities through on-site inspections and create a safe petroleum distribution and sales environment."
There are a total of 57 gas stations in Seongnam city.
Last year, the city also conducted petroleum product quality inspections at 50 gas stations in the area.
The inspection results showed that there were no places selling counterfeit petroleum.
