Daegu Regional Environmental Office announced that on the 8th, it detected Company A in a joint inspection with the Seo-gu District Office of Daegu, following the inflow of white wastewater into the sewage pipeline within the Daegu Seogu Dyeing Industrial Complex.
Suspicious circumstances were found in the nearby sewage pipeline of this company, and upon investigation, it was confirmed that during the fabric washing process (scouring facility) using caustic soda, some wastewater was not treated through the wastewater pipeline but instead partially flowed into the stormwater pipeline.
The Daegu Regional Environmental Office plans to take action against the company in accordance with relevant laws and has requested measures to prevent recurrence, such as complete sealing or relocating the stormwater pipeline outside the building to prevent wastewater from leaking into the stormwater pipeline within the premises.
An official from the Daegu Regional Environmental Office stated, "The wastewater that flowed into the sewage pipeline on the 8th has been traced to this company, and we are currently investigating its connection to previous wastewater leaks," adding, "Together with Daegu City and the Seo-gu District Office, we will conduct further investigations and do our best to prevent any future wastewater leaks in the dyeing industrial complex."
