On the 9th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will support more than 100 AI utilization technology development projects in the industrial and energy sectors this year.
This is a follow-up measure to the 'AI + R&DI Promotion Strategy' announced at the public-private joint Industrial Digital Transformation Committee chaired by the minister in October last year.
At that time, the ministry planned to promote 600 AI utilization research and development (R&D) projects by 2032, build Tech-GPT to explore and connect global technologies, companies, and talents through AI, and fully apply AI to the planning, evaluation, and management R&D processes of specialized institutions.
High demand for AI utilization was also confirmed in the field of industrial technology development. So far, the ministry has conducted two integrated demand surveys over six weeks, receiving 881 AI utilization technology development demands across 13 industrial sectors including robotics, semiconductors, displays, and renewable energy.
The ministry has announced 74 demand projects in the first round using industry-specific program-type projects and plans to announce more than 30 demand projects in the second round within the first half of the year.
