Former President Moon Jae-in's ‘Pyeongsan Bookstore,’ operated at his residence in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, drew attention on the 8th, the 117th anniversary of ‘International Women's Day,’ by introducing books related to feminism.

On this day, Pyeongsan Bookstore posted on its official social media service (SNS) a message saying, “Respect and equality for you, me, and all of us. March 8th. Today is ‘International Women's Day,’” along with photos of 12 books.

Additionally, Pyeongsan Bookstore shared part of a post that former President Moon had uploaded on SNS in 2021, during his tenure, to mark International Women's Day.

At that time, former President Moon wrote, “Reflecting on Korea's modern history, which was especially difficult for women including the comfort women victims, I pay tribute to all women who have steadfastly elevated the status of women,” and added, “I will create a world where women can take on leadership roles with equal rights.”

He then quoted a passage from Park Wan-seo’s novel ‘My Most Beloved’, “The me that I see and feel is more important,” saying, “We have long lived lives defined by others, and women have endured several times more hardships.” He continued, “However, there were women who overcame prejudice and discrimination to find themselves, and thanks to them, we have learned and practiced how to respect each other's feelings and lives.”
