140 Teams and 840 Participants in Workplace and Club Divisions
Expanding the Base with the Construction of an Indoor Tennis Court
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that the '12th Changwon Special Mayor's Cup Workplace and Club Tennis Tournament' was held at the Changwon City Tennis Court from the 8th to the 9th.
Hong Nampyo, mayor of Changwon Special City, is announcing the opening of the Changwon Special City Mayor's Cup Workplace and Club Tennis Tournament.
This tournament was hosted by the Changwon Sports Council and organized by the Changwon Tennis Association, with the support of Changwon Special City, to promote friendship among tennis enthusiasts from local institutions and companies and to vitalize sports for all.
This year, a total of 840 participants from 140 teams in the workplace and club divisions competed, with the strongest teams in each category determined through group stage qualifiers, main rounds, and finals.
At the opening ceremony, Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo said, "I hope this tournament will be a meaningful time for tennis enthusiasts to unite and share friendship," and added, "To ensure that citizens and enthusiasts can enjoy sports activities in a more pleasant environment, we are promoting the construction of an indoor tennis court with the goal of completion in the first half of this year, and also planning to replace equipment such as the stadium lighting towers."
Meanwhile, marking its 12th edition this year, the Changwon Special Mayor's Cup Workplace and Club Tennis Tournament has established itself as the representative tennis event in the region. Compared to last year, the number of participants increased by 36 teams and about 70 people, reflecting the growing interest and popularity of tennis, especially among the younger generation.
