At Dinner with Aides,
President Yoon Says, "The Detention Center Is a Place with Much to Learn"
President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was released after his detention was canceled, urged the staff at the Presidential Office on the 8th, saying, "For the country and the people, I hope the Presidential Office will continue to firmly hold the center of state affairs without wavering."
According to the Presidential Office, President Yoon arrived at the residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon, met with First Lady Kim Keon-hee, and then had dinner with key aides including Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok, Deputy Chief Kang Ui-gu, and Deputy Director of Security Kim Seong-hoon.
Upon arriving home, President Yoon reportedly greeted each of the dogs wagging their tails warmly, hugging them one by one.
At the dinner with his aides, President Yoon said, "My health is fine. I have become healthier because I have been sleeping a lot," and added, "The detention center is a place where even the president can learn a lot," according to a Presidential Office official.
President Yoon also said, "I read the Bible diligently. I recalled acquaintances who were previously incarcerated one by one and wondered how they have been," and added, "I saw that the correctional officers also work hard under difficult conditions."
After having a light meal of kimchi stew, President Yoon went inside with the dogs and is known to have rested early.
Earlier, around 5:49 p.m., President Yoon walked out of the main gate of Seoul Detention Center, greeted his supporters, and then took a security vehicle to the residence in Hannam-dong.
In a statement released through his legal representatives immediately after his release, President Yoon expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank the courage and decision of the Central District Court that corrected the illegality."
He continued, "I deeply thank the many citizens who sent their support despite the cold weather, and also our future generations," and added, "I also thank the leadership of the People Power Party and related parties."
