According to the Daejeon Western Police Station on the 8th, the pre-arrest detention hearing for Myung was held at 3 p.m. at the Daejeon District Court. However, since Myung expressed his intention not to appear in court to the police that day, the hearing proceeded in his absence.
Myung, who completed the investigation by the dedicated investigation team the day before, is currently detained at the Dunsan Police Station detention center in Daejeon. The results of the hearing are expected to be announced late in the afternoon.
Myung is accused of stabbing and killing 8-year-old Kim Haneul at an elementary school in Daejeon around 5:50 p.m. on the 10th of last month.
After the crime, Myung attempted self-harm and underwent vein suturing surgery, remaining hospitalized for about 20 days.
The police secured Myung’s custody by executing an arrest warrant the day before, completed the investigation, and applied for a detention warrant.
