Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, announced that the government's acceptance of his request on the 7th to declare Pocheon a special disaster area has been confirmed, and he pledged to do his best for fact-finding and recovery efforts.
On the 8th, Governor Kim posted on his social media (SNS), stating, "The government has announced that it will declare Pocheon a special disaster area," and added, "I strongly requested this directly to Lee Han-kyung, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, during my visit to the damage site yesterday."
He continued, "This fighter jet bombing accident clearly involves state responsibility," and added, "I said that the declaration should be made promptly without debating conditions or regulations."
Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province posted the following text and photo on his SNS on the 8th.
Governor Kim said, "A short while ago, Acting Minister Choi Sang-mok accepted the request and ordered the declaration of the special disaster area," emphasizing, "This is at least a relief. I once again urge the government to make every effort for swift damage recovery and restoration."
Furthermore, he promised, "Gyeonggi Province is proactively providing emergency living stabilization funds, accommodation, meals, and psychological healing support to the disaster victims," and added, "We will do our best for fact-finding and recovery until the residents' daily lives are restored."
