Hallym University Doheon Academic Institute Hosts Symposium on "Rescuing Korean Democracy"

Hallym University Doheon Academic Institute announced that it will hold the 3rd Doheon Academic Symposium at 11 a.m. on the 14th at the Seoul Club on the 18th floor of the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.

This symposium, under the theme "Emergency Task for the Republic of Korea: Rescuing Korean Democracy - Purging Hostile Politics and Proposing Constitutional Amendments," aims to diagnose the issue of political polarization in Korea and seek solutions through constitutional reform. The event will begin with an opening address by Yoon Hee-seong, Chairman of Ilsong Foundation, followed by presentations from experts in the fields of politics and law in Korea.

Professor Kang Won-taek of Seoul National University (Department of Political Science and International Relations) will present on "Presidential System Reform," Professor Seo Jeong-geon of Kyung Hee University (Department of Political Science and International Relations) on "Parliamentary and Party System Reform," and Professor Jang Young-soo of Korea University (Law School) on "Outline and Direction of Constitutional Reform of the 1987 Regime." Following the presentations, a roundtable discussion will be chaired by Song Ho-geun, Director of Doheon Academic Institute, with panelists including ▲ Sung Nak-in, former President of Seoul National University ▲ Yeom Jae-ho, President of Taejae University ▲ Choi Jang-jip, Professor Emeritus at Korea University, who will discuss the direction of political reform in Korea.

Song Ho-geun, Director of Doheon Academic Institute, stated, "Korean democracy is currently in crisis due to severe political polarization," and added, "I hope this symposium will serve as a starting point to seek solutions through political reform and constitutional amendment."

Meanwhile, Hallym University Doheon Academic Institute is an academic institution that researches and publicizes major political and social issues in Korean society academically, and holds annual symposiums to propose directions for the development of Korean democracy.
