Neighborhood Park in Bukbyeon-dong Expected to Be Developed in Line with Nearby Project Completion
Gimpo City Expects Acceleration in Old Town Redevelopment Projects
Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byung-su) has been finally selected for the 2025 Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Land Reserve Project, and the Gimpo Neighborhood Park development project underway in the Bukbyeon-dong area is expected to gain momentum.
According to Gimpo City on the 7th, the city is known to have put great effort into logically persuading the necessity of being selected in the Ministry of Land project, achieving this selection.
Gimpo City reportedly applied for the land reserve project to develop the park in coordination with nearby developers (Bukbyeon 2 District Urban Development Project, Bukbyeon 3 District Housing Redevelopment Project) and to complete the park by 2028, coinciding with the completion of the development projects.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Land Reserve Project is a system in which the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) collectively secures land necessary for public interest projects and provides it in a timely manner to reduce the time and cost required for land compensation and to support the smooth promotion of public interest projects by enabling early project commencement.
Since the launch of the 8th elected government, Gimpo City achieved the milestone of being selected for this project for the first time in 2024. Following last year's selection for the Yangchon Urban Regeneration Hub Facility Construction Project, the city has been selected for the Gimpo Neighborhood Park development project this year, marking two consecutive years of selection. This is expected to accelerate project progress by reducing compensation costs and shortening the compensation period.
In particular, the Gimpo Neighborhood Park development project is an infrastructure project within the Gimpo Redevelopment Promotion District aimed at providing citizens with a safe resting space and protecting the local natural landscape. By utilizing the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s land bank to secure the project site early and proceed with construction, it is expected to greatly contribute to improving citizen welfare and convenience.
A Gimpo City official said, “Gimpo City is doing its best for the rapid improvement of citizens' quality of life and continuous regional development,” adding, “With the support of this public land reserve project selection, we will do our best to ensure the successful promotion of both projects.”
