Under the tariff pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, the European Central Bank (ECB) lowered its policy interest rate to 2.5%.
On the 6th (local time), the ECB held a monetary policy meeting and cut the deposit rate by 0.25 percentage points from 2.75% to 2.5% per annum.
The ECB operates its monetary policy mainly around the deposit rate. Since the ECB pivoted its policy direction in June last year, the deposit rate has been lowered by a total of 1.5 percentage points from a high of 4.0% to 2.5%.
