Korea Racing Authority LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam (Head 엄영석) is recruiting rehabilitation riding trainees for children and adolescents with disabilities from 3 PM on the 14th until 3 PM on March 15.

Rehabilitation riding is one of Korea Racing Authority’s representative social contribution projects, serving as a rehabilitation therapy method where people with physical and mental disabilities engage in activities with horses to promote recovery.

Because the movements on horseback are quite similar to walking on flat ground, it provides physical exercise effects similar to walking. Additionally, rehabilitation riding helps with psychological stability by understanding the horse’s nonverbal behaviors and communicating with the horse.

The recruitment target for rehabilitation riding is holders of disability registration cards (welfare cards) aged 6 to 18 years old (height under 180cm, weight under 70kg). Applicants must submit all required documents, including a medical opinion stating no issues with participating in rehabilitation riding, and apply for the training via email from 3 PM on the 14th until 3 PM the next day.

To provide opportunities to more children, both first and second priority selection criteria and first-come, first-served registration will be applied. First priority is given to new applicants with no prior training history, and second priority is given to previous trainees with fewer training sessions. The announcement of selected trainees will be posted on March 15 at 6 PM on the Horse Industry Comprehensive Portal Hospia website.

This training will be conducted in two phases. The first phase runs from late March to late April, and the second phase from late May to late June, with training held once a week on Saturdays for six weeks. The training program mainly consists of horse communication and physical exercise programs using horseback riding, with the utmost priority on trainee safety. Each class consists of two trainees, a rehabilitation riding coach, and a training assistant, with one horse assigned per trainee.

Classes will be held free of charge at LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam Riding Land. For more details about rehabilitation riding training, please check the Hospia website or contact the Korea Racing Authority Rehabilitation Healing Riding Center Busan branch.
