KT Discusses Responsible AI Service Implementation Plans at MWC25

Bae Seunmin Attends Consecutive Panel Discussions at MWC2025
Highlights KT’s Leadership in Responsible AI and Global Partnerships

KT attended consecutive artificial intelligence (AI) sessions at the 'Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC2025)' held in Barcelona, Spain. They discussed various AI-related topics ranging from AI innovation by telecommunications operators to ethical AI utilization methods.

Seunmin Bae, Senior Executive Director (CRAIO) of KT AI Future Lab, participated as a panelist in the 'Building Ethical AI' session at MWC2025 on the 4th (local time), stating, "We have been committed to building a global ecosystem through collaborative development of responsible AI technologies." He emphasized KT’s leadership in Korean AI research, including the development of a Korean-linked large language model (LLM) to overcome language barriers in the AI era. He also explained that KT established the Responsible AI Center in April last year and published a report on AI ethics and reliability research outcomes in October last year.

At this event, discussions were held on ethical AI implementation methods by telecommunications operators at a time when AI is deeply integrated into daily life. Participants focused on core principles for responsible AI adoption such as fairness, human agency, privacy, security, and transparency. Key decision-makers from global telecommunications companies within the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) participated in this session.

In the afternoon, Director Bae also took part in the session titled 'Are Telecom Operators Falling Behind in AI Innovation?' where he introduced the strategic partnership case with Microsoft (MS) and suggested the impact of new partnerships. He further proposed the role of telecom operators in areas such as infrastructure, data, talent development, and governance. Along with other participants, he diagnosed successful AI adoption cases, challenges, and regional differences within the telecommunications industry, analyzing obstacles in the adoption process and strategies to overcome them.

Following this, at the 'Women ICT Leaders Roundtable' co-hosted by GSMA and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), they explored support measures to enable young women and girls worldwide to demonstrate leadership in the digital world. Director Bae and other international attendees also discussed inclusive digital services through new technologies such as AI.

Director Bae stated, "In a situation where AI technology is rapidly advancing, establishing ethical guidelines and practical adoption strategies is not optional but essential," adding, "KT will continue to lead responsible AI development while showcasing practical AI technologies and services to accelerate AI innovation in the industry."
