Gyeonggi-do Provides Up to 2 Million KRW for Youth 'Scar Removal and Counseling' Treatment Including Tattoos

Gyeonggi Province will support treatment costs for scar removal and psychological counseling for adolescents experiencing psychological difficulties due to scars or tattoos caused by trauma.


On the 6th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will carry out a project providing treatment costs of around 2 million KRW per person, divided into the first and second half of the year, along with psychological counseling services linked to the Youth Counseling and Welfare Center.


The support targets at-risk youth aged 9 to 24 residing in Gyeonggi Province who meet the requirement of being below 100% of the median income.

Applications for the first half of the year can be submitted until the 14th through the Gyeonggi Youth Counseling and Welfare Center website (hi1318.or.kr). Proxy applications by guardians are also allowed besides the youth themselves.


Kang Hyun-seok, Director of the Future Lifelong Education Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "There are many cases where adolescents face difficulties entering society due to scars," adding, "We will actively support adolescents to overcome trauma or psychological wounds, regain confidence, and establish themselves as healthy members of society."


Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province first implemented the project in 2022 through resident participatory budgeting, providing medical expenses for scar removal caused by self-harm, violence, tattoos, and psychological counseling to 49 adolescents last year.
