The KOSPI index is narrowing its gains amid selling pressure from institutions and foreigners.


As of 10:52 a.m. on the 5th, the KOSPI index is trading at 2540.42, up 0.47% from the previous day. The index opened at 2548.45, up 0.77% from the previous day.


By investor type, institutions and foreigners sold net amounts of 51.4 billion KRW and 188.8 billion KRW respectively, while individuals bought a net 207.6 billion KRW. In the futures market, institutions and individuals sold net amounts of 3.6 billion KRW and 96.5 billion KRW respectively, whereas foreigners are net buyers with 96.4 billion KRW.


By sector, more sectors are rising. The construction sector is up 3.78%, machinery and equipment 2.56%, electric and gas 2.04%, textiles and apparel 2.14%, distribution 1.99%, chemicals 1.89%, transportation and warehousing 1.47%, medical precision 1.38%, non-metallic minerals 1.2%, food, beverages and tobacco 0.86%, general services 0.83%, metals 0.72%, paper and wood 0.8%, pharmaceuticals 0.61%, showing strength. On the other hand, the securities sector is down 1.05%, transportation equipment -0.65%, and telecommunications -0.38%, showing weakness.


Top market capitalization stocks are mixed. Samsung Electronics is down 0.37%, Hanwha Aerospace -2.71%, KB Financial Group -1.16%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries -1.27%, Hanwha Ocean -5.76%, Hyundai Mobis -1.2% are weak. Meanwhile, SK Hynix is up 0.81%, Samsung Biologics 0.09%, LG Energy Solution 0.45%, Hyundai Motor 1.1%, Celltrion 0.65%, Kia 1.71% are on the rise.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ index continues its strong performance in the 1% range. The KOSDAQ index is trading at 746.39, up 1.15% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net buyers of 32 billion KRW and 28.5 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net sellers of 102.9 billion KRW.


Most of the top market capitalization stocks are strong. Alteogen is up 3.25%, HLB 0.89%, EcoPro BM 1.16%, EcoPro 2.75%, Rainbow Robotics 3.48%, Samchundang Pharmaceuticals 6.99%, Ligachem Bio 0.97%, Hugel 2.72%, Classys 1.57%, PharmaResearch 2.4%, Kolon TissueGene 2.82% are showing strength. Meanwhile, JYP Ent. is down 1.21%.


Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the KRW/USD exchange rate is trading at 1455.5 KRW, down 4.8 KRW from the previous day.
