Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is recruiting participants for the "2025 Senior Internship Program" to support career development and job opportunities for the senior population.
The Senior Internship Program is designed to assist unemployed seniors who find it difficult to prepare for a stable retirement due to increasingly earlier retirement ages and a decrease in job availability. According to the district, as of January 2025, the population aged 50 to 64 in the area is 76,680, accounting for 23% of the total population. It is necessary to actively monitor the economic activities of seniors.
The program targets unemployed seniors aged 50 to 64 residing in the district, selecting 15 participants. Participating companies include ▲ Mabeobmaeuldolbom Social Cooperative ▲ Saram I&G Co., Ltd. ▲ Seoul Daycare Center ▲ Jinseong On ▲ Cobalt Social Cooperative ▲ Haeoreum Social Cooperative ▲ Huayu Flower & Horticultural Therapy Center, totaling seven organizations. Job duties vary by company and include safety management, caregiving assistance, video editing, product packaging, marketing, and administrative support.
The activity period is from May 1 to October 31. Working conditions are up to 57 hours per month and less than 15 hours per week, with an hourly wage of 11,779 KRW, which is the Gwangjin-gu living wage. The four major social insurances are not applied, but group accident insurance enrollment is supported.
The application period is from March 5 to 19. Applicants must submit the application form, self-introduction letter, and other required documents either in person or via email. The selection process consists of two stages: document screening and interviews. Those who pass the first document screening will proceed to on-site interviews conducted by each company. The final selection results will be announced on April 8 on the Gwangjin-gu Office website. For more details, contact the Lifelong Education Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, "This program was established to support the stable retirement and employment activities of seniors with experience and maturity. We hope for the active interest and participation of our residents," and added, "We will continue to develop customized programs to actively support the social participation and economic activities of the senior population."
Last year, the district operated internships for 16 people across five companies, with two successfully re-employed.
