The tension is at its peak as the first-ever Saemaeul Geumgo Chairman election since its founding is just one day away.
The Jeollanam-do Election Commission announced on the 4th that the 1st Nationwide Simultaneous Saemaeul Geumgo Chairman Election will be held at 26 polling stations in Jeollanam-do (as of the 1st). Through this election, including those elected unopposed, a total of 50 credit union chairmen will be selected.
For credit unions that elect their chairman by direct vote, polling hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For those that elect their chairman through a delegates' meeting, voting will be held from the time agreed upon by the local election commission and the credit union until 5:00 p.m.
Voters must bring a resident registration card, passport, driver's license, or any other photo ID issued by a public institution to the polling station. The location of the polling station can be found in the voting guide sent by the election commission to each voter, and the address and map of the polling stations are also available on the central election commission's website.
When voting, voters must mark the ballot in the designated area using the marking tool provided in the voting booth. If it is unclear which candidate was marked, or if more than one candidate's area is marked, the ballot will be considered invalid, so caution is advised.
After voting ends, the election commission will transport the ballot boxes to the counting center, where counting will proceed in the presence of counting observers appointed by each candidate. The results can be checked on the central election commission's website and the simultaneous chairman election statistics system.
