These programs are commissioned and operated by Hwaseong Ecotourism Social Cooperative, a social enterprise within the city.
The representative program is "Sopung," which has been running since 2016. This program offers in-depth tours on various themes such as geology, ecology, wetlands, birdwatching, and peace at local attractions including the Dinosaur Egg Fossil Site, Ueumdo, Bibong Wetland Park, Hwaseong Wetlands, and Maehyang-ri. Starting this year, programs linked with Hwaseong City festivals, such as the Boat Play Festival, will also be operated.
The "Ecological Night Tour" program, which introduces the night views of major ecological sites in the city such as Ueumdo, Jebudo, Hwaseong Lake, Gungpyeong Port, and Maehyang-ri, is also attracting attention. The city plans to operate five programs this year by adding festival-linked programs to the existing three.
From this year, a new program called the "Hub Specialized Program" will also be operated. This year, the "Geo Tour" program will be held at Ueumdo, which has been certified as a national geopark by the Ministry of Environment, linking geological resources.
The Sopung program can be reserved through the Hwaseong Ecotourism Social Cooperative website and by phone. Detailed schedules and reservation methods for the Ecological Night Tour and Hub Specialized Program will be announced later on the cooperative’s website.
Park Joo-deok, head of the Tourism Promotion Division of Hwaseong City, said, "This year, we plan to link ecological tourism programs with Hwaseong City festivals," adding, "It will be a great opportunity to enjoy ecological and cultural resources while participating in local festivals."
