'Contribution to Accounting Transparency' Kang Pyung-kyung and Jung Tae-jin Awarded Anjin Academic Prize This Year

Professors Kang Pyung-kyung of Sogang University and Jung Tae-jin of Hanyang University were selected as scholars who contributed to securing accounting transparency and advancing corporate governance across domestic society and businesses.

Deloitte Korea Group announced on the 4th that it held the ‘2025 Korean Accounting Association Deloitte Anjin Academic Awards (hereinafter Anjin Academic Awards)’ ceremony at its headquarters on the 28th. The Anjin Academic Awards are organized by the Korean Accounting Association and sponsored by Deloitte Anjin Accounting Corporation.


Professor Kang received the Anjin Academic Awards Honors Award (Merit Award). This award is given to mid-career scholars who have outstanding research achievements in securing accounting transparency or advancing corporate governance and are expected to contribute to the development of these fields in the future.


Since 2014, Professor Kang has been serving as a professor at Sogang University and has published numerous papers in prestigious domestic and international academic journals related to corporate governance, corporate disclosure, and accounting information quality. His major research topics include “Financial Reporting Conservatism and Voluntary Disclosure,” “Client Bargaining Power and Audit Negotiations in Large Business Groups,” “The Role of Media News Information in Adjusting Market Anomalies,” “Institutional Investors’ Stewardship Code Adoption and Corporate Treasury Stock Decisions,” and “Corporate Governance and Intangible Asset Investment Decisions in Large Business Groups.” Through these studies, he has contributed to the advancement of research related to governance and corporate disclosure. He is also actively engaged in research on key issues attracting attention in the accounting field, such as recognition and measurement of intangible assets, internal accounting control systems, and measurement of corporate social value, contributing to applying related discussions to academia and practice.


Currently, Professor Kang serves as the Vice President of International Cooperation at the Korean Accounting Association, contributing to the activation of international academic discussions. He also serves as a member of the K-IFRS Inquiry and Response Committee at the Korean Accounting Standards Board, advisory professor at the Financial Supervisory Service, member of the Public Enterprise Management Evaluation Committee at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, chair of the Accounting Reform Task Force at the Financial Services Commission, and advisor to the Korea Listed Companies Association. Through these roles, he supports the interpretation and application of accounting systems and contributes to discussions on financial and disclosure systems. Additionally, he performs accounting and governance-related reviews and evaluations at major institutions such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Financial Supervisory Service, and Korean Accounting Standards Board, playing a role in bridging academia and practice.


Professor Jung received the Emerging Scholar Award. This award is given to early-career scholars who have recently achieved significant results in fields related to securing accounting transparency or advancing corporate governance and are expected to contribute to the development of these fields in the future.


Professor Jung is actively conducting research in accounting and taxation, particularly excelling in corporate governance, tax avoidance, internal accounting control systems, and accounting audits. As a certified public accountant, he gained practical experience at Deloitte Anjin Accounting Corporation and Yulchon LLC, then entered academia, holding accounting professor positions at Shenzhen University in China and IE Business School in Spain before joining the College of Business at Hanyang University last year.


Professor Jung’s research focuses on corporate governance and accounting transparency, the effectiveness of internal accounting control systems, and tax avoidance, contributing to the development of corporate accounting transparency and audit systems. His research has been published in internationally renowned journals such as Contemporary Accounting Research (CAR), Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and European Accounting Review. Currently, he serves as an editorial board member for Global Business & Finance Review and the Accounting, Taxation, and Auditing Research published by the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, contributing to the advancement of accounting research and the activation of academic exchanges domestically and internationally.


The academic awards are selected by the Korean Accounting Association according to its own regulations, and the selected professors’ activity period is one year.
