Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, expressed his welcome on the 28th regarding the passage of the "Special Act on the Promotion of Offshore Wind Power Deployment and Industry Development" and the "Special Act on the Expansion of National Power Grid" at the National Assembly plenary session.
The passage of the Offshore Wind Power Special Act is expected to bring several positive effects, such as greatly simplifying the permitting processes for related industries and revitalizing private investment. In particular, Jeollanam-do's offshore wind power industry is expected to gain significant momentum.
The "AI Supercluster Hub" project, the world's largest, for which Governor Kim signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) during his visit to the United States, is also expected to gain further traction.
In his statement welcoming the passage of the two bills at the National Assembly, Governor Kim said, "To realize the energy expressway promoted by Jeollanam-do, it is essential to establish the power grid in a timely manner," and added, "With the passage of the special power grid act, the energy transition based on renewable energy such as offshore wind and solar power will accelerate, and I hope that many good jobs will be created as RE100 companies invest in Jeollanam-do, which is rich in renewable energy." He also expressed his deep gratitude to the National Assembly and government officials who worked hard for the passage of these bills.
Jeollanam-do is focusing on three major energy initiatives to overcome low birth rates, prevent regional extinction, and achieve balanced regional development: ▲Energy Basic Income ▲Energy Expressway ▲RE100 and distributed energy.
