Announcement for Happiness Villages, Sanbok-ro Renaissance, and Urban Regeneration Projects
Up to 5 Million KRW in Project Funding for a Total of 34 Communities
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Shin Chang-ho) announced on the 28th that it will actively promote the resident-led ‘Resident Proposal Project’ and support community-driven village development.
During this proposal process, two projects will be conducted simultaneously: the ‘Happiness Plus Resident Proposal Project’ targeting 71 happiness villages designated by Busan City, and the ‘Busan Village Living Area Revitalization Resident Proposal Project’ aimed at community facilities in the Sanbok-ro Renaissance and urban regeneration project areas.
The ‘Resident Proposal Project’ allows residents to plan and execute projects to address various local issues, providing up to 5 million KRW in funding for projects in diverse fields such as lifelong learning, village specialization experiences, and carbon neutrality practices.
Applications will be accepted until March 6, and a total of 34 communities will be selected through a first-round document screening and a second-round face-to-face evaluation. Subsequently, selected groups will receive related training, and project funds will be granted by the end of April.
The projects will be carried out according to each community’s implementation plan until September 30, and detailed information about the proposal can be found on the Busan Metropolitan Corporation Urban Regeneration Support Center website.
BMC plans to hold an excellent case presentation contest at the end of November to encourage active participation from residents, discover projects tailored to local characteristics, and revitalize local communities.
Shin Chang-ho, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, “We will continue to support village development led by residents and strive to enrich citizens’ daily lives through customized local projects.”
