Hudson AI, an AI-based media tech company, has formed a strategic partnership with animation studio ICONIX to expand the global market for the 'Pororo the Little Penguin' and 'Tayo the Little Bus' series. By utilizing AI dubbing solutions, they plan to significantly reduce the costs and time required for localization when exporting to overseas media platforms.
Since launching 'Pororo the Little Penguin' in 2003, ICONIX has led the globalization of Korean animation by planning and producing various spin-offs and sequels.
An ICONIX representative stated, "The introduction of AI dubbing has greatly reduced the costs of traditional translation and dubbing. We especially expect to supply content more quickly to markets with high localization costs, such as North America and Japan."
Given that the primary audience for kids' animation is children of school age and younger, localization through dubbing rather than subtitles is essential to enjoy the content. However, traditional dubbing methods involve high production costs and time, making it burdensome to produce a large volume of dubbed content.
Hudson AI's AI dubbing technology overcomes the limitations of traditional voice actor-based dubbing and TTS (Text-to-Speech) methods by delivering more natural acting tones while reducing costs through an efficient production process.
Shin Hyunjin, CEO of Hudson AI, said, "We plan to expand dubbing languages to include European languages such as German this year," adding, "We will further enhance the global influence of domestic media content."
He added, "At MWC 2025, the world's largest mobile exhibition, we will showcase real-time multilingual TTS technology to break down global communication barriers for various forms of media and AI agents, including chatbots and games."
