Securing 5 Billion KRW for Fishing Village Safety Infrastructure Improvement
Jindo County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim Heesu) announced on the 27th that it has secured 5 billion KRW after being selected for the "2025 Fishing Village Vitalization Project" hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The Fishing Village Vitalization Project is a five-year initiative starting in 2023, investing a total of 3 trillion KRW in 300 locations to transform fishing villages into vibrant spaces. The project is promoted in three categories: ▲Establishment of fishing village economic platforms ▲Establishment of fishing village living platforms ▲Improvement of fishing village safety infrastructure.

Through this selection, Jindo County has achieved the remarkable feat of being chosen for the Fishing Village Vitalization Project for three consecutive years since its inception in 2023 (2 locations in Type 3), 2024 (1 location in Type 1, 1 location in Type 3), and 2025 (1 location in Type 3), without missing a single year.
In particular, for the 2025 project, only 25 locations were selected, 10 fewer than last year, resulting in fierce competition. Despite challenging circumstances, Jindo County's achievement of being selected for three consecutive years is especially significant.
With this project selection, the Dongheon Port Fishing Village Vitalization Project will improve safety through the maintenance of port facilities and greatly contribute to enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
Governor Kim Heesu stated, "I sincerely thank National Assembly member Park Jiwan for his great interest and active cooperation," and added, "We will do our best to create vibrant fishing villages through the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project and the Fishing Village Vitalization Project."
Meanwhile, since 2019, Jindo County has been promoting the "Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project" by investing a total of 66.8 billion KRW in 15 ports. For the "Fishing Village Vitalization Project," including the newly selected project (project cost of 5 billion KRW), the county has secured a total of 50 billion KRW, with 2 projects in 2023 (project cost of 10 billion KRW), 2 projects in 2024 (project cost of 35 billion KRW), and is currently implementing them.
