“A Model Case of Excellence in International Student Education System”
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced that the ‘Convergence Business Administration Department (English Track)’, a department dedicated to international students, has produced its first graduating class and received the ‘Best Academic Achievement Award’ at the College of Business Administration’s overall degree conferment ceremony.
The Convergence Business Administration Department at Dong-A University’s College of Business Administration, with 92 international students from 8 countries enrolled as of April 1, 2024, is a department offering a specialized curriculum for undergraduate international students. It is Dong-A University’s first English-track department where all lectures are conducted in English. Based on knowledge of business and economics, it aims to nurture global talents who can lead the world market by understanding various business fields (business administration, tourism management, international trade, management information systems, and economics).
Although established in the first semester of 2021, the department faced challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has now produced its first graduates. Among them, Dilmurolodov Umid (Uzbekistan) was the only international student among all graduates of the College of Business Administration to receive the ‘Outstanding Academic Achievement Award (Dean’s Award of the College of Business Administration)’.

At the College of Business Administration degree conferment ceremony held on the 19th at Dow Hall, Bumin Campus of Dong-A University, a total of 11 graduates received the award, with Dilmurolodov Umid attracting attention as the only foreign recipient.
Student Dilmurolodov Umid said, “Studying abroad away from family and friends was not easy, but with the help of many professors at Dong-A University and the International Exchange Office staff over the four years, I was able to overcome the challenges well.”
Park Hyun-tae, Director of the Office of External and International Affairs at Dong-A University, said, “This is a case that proves the excellence of Dong-A University’s dedicated education system for international students. We expect it to be an opportunity to further strengthen Dong-A University’s global educational environment,” adding, “We will continue to provide more opportunities to international students from various countries and strive to nurture world-class talents.”
Choi Kyu-hwan, Dean of the College of Business Administration and Professor of Tourism Management, said, “The Convergence Business Administration Department was established four years ago, and through the efforts of professors and the university, it has achieved the great accomplishment of producing its first graduating class,” adding, “We will do our best in education and administrative services to help increase the attraction of international students to Dong-A University and support the residential support project, a key initiative of Busan City.”
In addition to the Convergence Business Administration Department, Dong-A University operates various specialized educational programs for international students and actively runs programs to help them adapt to student life by enhancing their understanding of Korean culture and society.
