LG Uplus Unveils 'Liquid Cooling' Technology to Cool AIDC at MWC25

Collaboration with GST...
Reducing Carbon Emissions by 90%

LG Uplus will unveil a 'next-generation liquid cooling technology' that can enhance the competitiveness of AI Data Centers (AIDC) in line with the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI). This technology, developed in collaboration with partners such as Global Standard Technology (GST), will be showcased at the world's largest mobile telecommunications exhibition, Mobile World Congress (MWC), held from March 3 to 6 next month.

Liquid cooling technology efficiently cools the heat generated by servers installed in data centers using water or non-conductive liquids. Since AIDC is optimized for high-performance AI and big data processing compared to general data centers, having a cooling system like liquid cooling is essential.

LG Uplus worked together with its partners from the development stage to secure strengths such as ▲optimization for high-density, high-performance computing ▲scalability ▲energy savings ▲simplified maintenance. Through this, it can effectively cool high-density racks exceeding 100kW and allows flexible expansion through modular design. Additionally, it can reduce the energy required for cooling by up to 90%, thereby lowering carbon emissions, and is designed to minimize system downtime and enable maintenance work during operation, enhancing operational efficiency.

Meanwhile, LG Uplus has been operating Internet Data Centers (IDC) for 26 years since establishing Korea's first IDC in 1999. It is planning to complete the Paju AIDC, which is nine times the size of a soccer field, by 2027.

Jung Sook-kyung, Executive Director in charge of LG Uplus's AIDC business, said, "At MWC, we will introduce the next-generation liquid cooling solution developed together with various partners including GST to the world and showcase LG Uplus's competitiveness in the AIDC field. With 26 years of experience operating data centers and energy-saving technology, we will establish ourselves as a leading AIDC business recognized in the global market."
