Taiwan Ministry of National Defense:
"China's live-fire exercises near Kaohsiung and Pingtung
are a blatant violation of international norms"
Condemnation of airspace intrusion and regional security threats
The Taiwan Ministry of National Defense announced on the 26th at around 8:42 a.m. that it detected 32 sorties of Chinese People's Liberation Army's J-11 fighter jets, KJ-500 early warning aircraft, and other main and auxiliary fighters and drones conducting maritime activities, among which 22 sorties crossed the median line and extended line, violating Taiwan's northwestern airspace.
The Taiwan Ministry of National Defense stated, "China blatantly violated international practices by establishing a training zone about 40 nautical miles off the coasts of Kaohsiung and Pingtung without prior notice and conducting live-fire exercises," adding, "The Ministry strongly condemns this, and has immediately dispatched naval, air, and ground forces to monitor, guard, and take appropriate measures."
The Taiwan Ministry of National Defense also said, "These actions not only pose a significant risk to the safety of international air and maritime navigation but also constitute a blatant provocation to regional security and stability," and pointed out, "At a time when the world seeks peace, China's actions completely contradict the principles of 'mutual respect,' 'building common prosperity,' and 'peaceful coexistence' that China has repeatedly declared."
Furthermore, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense stated, "China's recent live-fire exercises off the coasts of Vietnam and Australia, as well as its military deterrence and other acts undermining the status quo against the Philippines, sufficiently prove that China is the sole and greatest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region," and added, "The Taiwan military will continue to strengthen its forces and do its utmost to prepare for war, closely monitoring the situation around the Taiwan Strait to ensure national defense security."
