Promotion of Four Major Projects with a Budget of 124.2 Billion KRW
Chungnam Province announced on the 26th that it will publicly recruit universities in the province to participate in the Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE) project until March 31.
This call for applications is being carried out for universities located in the province in accordance with the '2025 Chungnam RISE Implementation Plan,' which was reviewed and approved at the first 2025 Chungcheongnam-do RISE Committee meeting held on the 21st.
The budget for the Chungnam RISE project to be implemented this year is approximately 124.2 billion KRW, aiming to realize regional settlement through three major innovations (industry, university, society). The project will promote four main projects and 17 individual tasks: ▲ fostering new growth engine industries ▲ establishing an innovative ecosystem for regional industries ▲ strengthening the transformation of the regional higher education system ▲ realizing a community of growth and sharing.
Universities wishing to participate in the call can select up to 11 individual tasks from the 17 available, packaging them in a way that organically connects to their specialized fields, and submit a single RISE project proposal.
In April, the province will form a selection evaluation committee composed of members from academia, education, the economic and industrial sectors, and research institutes to evaluate the contents of the project proposals submitted by each university. Final selection of participating universities and the amount of support for each will be determined through the Chungnam RISE Committee.
The selected universities will begin full-scale implementation of their projects starting in May. The province and the Chungnam RISE Center plan to strengthen university accountability and maximize results by continuously monitoring and consulting on the progress of the projects.
Kang Sungki, Director of Planning and Coordination for the province, stated, "We plan to establish a flexible and adaptable support system to ensure continuous communication with universities and foster development in connection with the local community," adding, "We will do our utmost to create exemplary cases and ensure the RISE system takes root."
