The establishment of Redlands Christian School (RCS), a prestigious private school in the United States, is becoming a reality in Solaseado, located in the Guseong District of Haenam, a corporate city in Jeonnam.
While on an official visit to the United States, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam, signed an agreement on the 25th (local time) at the Media Center of Redlands Christian School in California with Todd Mattson, Chairman of the Board, Daniel Cole, Korea-US Representative, and other executives, pledging mutual cooperation for the establishment and operation of a foreign educational institution in Solaseado.
Present at the signing ceremony were Myung Hyunkwan, Mayor of Haenam, and Ko Hyungkwon, Vice Chairman of BS Group.
The agreement includes provisions to attract, establish, and support the operation of a foreign educational institution in Solaseado, as well as to build a cooperative system for creating an international educational environment in the region.
They also reviewed programs at Redlands Christian School designed to enhance the academic abilities of underperforming students and foreign language curricula such as Spanish, and listened to Korean students currently enrolled at Redlands Christian School share their experiences.
Accordingly, Jeonnam Province, Haenam County, and Southwest Coast Corporate City Development will provide administrative and financial support within the scope permitted by law for the establishment and operation of the foreign educational institution.
Redlands Christian School will make efforts to establish and operate the foreign educational institution, including student recruitment, teacher selection, and the development of systematic learning programs.
Todd Mattson, Chairman of the Board, Brian Bell, Head Principal, Daniel Cole, Korea-US Representative, and other officials from Redlands Christian School are scheduled to visit Jeonnam around April to visit the Solaseado site and discuss concrete plans for the school’s construction.
Governor Kim Youngrok stated, "Through this agreement, the foundation for foreign educational infrastructure has been laid, which is expected to greatly help attract foreign investment and develop Solaseado as a corporate city. We will actively support the successful establishment and operation of the foreign educational institution in Solaseado."
Located in Redlands, California, Redlands Christian School is a prestigious American private school with a 100-year tradition, established in 1921.
