Gangbuk-gu was established on March 1, 1995, and this year marks its 30th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone with residents, the district will operate "Gangbuk Culture Week" from March 1 to 8, and prior to that, it has prepared the 30th anniversary commemorative event along with the exhibition opening ceremony titled "The Past 30, The Next 30."

The event will be divided into two parts: the first part is the commemorative ceremony, and the second part is the exhibition opening, with about 200 residents attending. The first part will take place at the 2nd-floor performance hall of Gangbuk Azalea Hall, starting at 4 PM with a classical congratulatory performance, followed by the screening of the 30th anniversary commemorative video, a commemorative speech by Mayor Lee Soon-hee, and a performance by musical actress Park Hae-mi.

The second part will be held in the 1st-floor exhibition room, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the exhibition. The "The Past 30, The Next 30" exhibition is a resident-participatory exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary, showcasing a nostalgic past and a hopeful future. It displays everyday artifacts donated by residents and photographs depicting the 30-year transformation of Gangbuk-gu.

Additionally, 30 works created by 30 children selected through a contest will be exhibited, expressing the future of Gangbuk-gu through Western painting, Oriental painting, and ceramics. The children who participated in the artworks will serve as docents during the opening ceremony, explaining their works directly to visitors.

Meanwhile, during "Gangbuk Culture Week," celebrating the 30th anniversary, various programs will be held, including performances by invited singers such as Tae Jin-ah and Kim Su-chan, a special lecture by Dr. Oh Eun-young, and a spring concert by the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra collaborating with violin prodigy Kim Yeon-ah.

Mayor Lee Soon-hee stated, "This 30th anniversary commemorative event will be a meaningful occasion where residents can experience the history and future of Gangbuk-gu that we have built together," and added, "I hope many residents will participate and brighten the event."
