Joint statements opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol are being announced one after another at universities in the Gwangju area.


According to local universities on the 24th, on the 21st, a post titled "Recruiting Team for Chosun University Statement Opposing Impeachment" was uploaded to the student community board "Everytime" at Chosun University. The student wrote, "The existing Chosun University statement team has become inactive. We are preparing a joint statement with Chonnam National University, Gwangju University, and Chosun University."


Recently, on the Chonnam National University community, a post announced that a statement calling for an investigation into election fraud would be held at the May 18 Square at Chonnam National University on the afternoon of the 27th.


The event is organized by "Chonnam National University Students Calling for Election Fraud Investigation," and the post stated, "The event will be held without any connection to outside organizations and will be based on the individual will and voluntary participation of students."


Some students at Gwangju University also posted notices announcing a statement opposing impeachment. Previously, some students at Chosun University posted a similar announcement on the same community board, stating that a statement opposing impeachment would be held on the 28th. The student, who announced the location as the main entrance of the Chosun University main building, said, "We must act to uphold the right values and beliefs," and asked for the participation of fellow students who share the same intention.


A university official said, "There have been no separate reports regarding related rallies yet," and added, "We are preparing for any possible conflicts."
