"Competition Rate 4.9 to 1"... 14,259 Candidates Take the First CPA Exam

More than 14,000 candidates took the first stage of this year's Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam, recording a competition ratio of 4.9 to 1.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) on the 24th, a total of 14,259 candidates took the 60th CPA first stage exam held at 29 testing centers nationwide the previous day. This represents a 1.5% decrease compared to the previous year, with a tentative attendance rate of 86.2%.

Based on the planned number of 2,900 candidates to be selected in the first stage exam, the competition ratio rose slightly to 4.9 to 1 from 4.8 to 1 last year.

The FSS explained that candidates who score at least 60% (306 points out of 510) on average across all subjects without failing any subject will be selected as first stage exam passers in order of highest scores up to 2,900. In case of ties exceeding 2,900 candidates, all tied candidates will be considered as passers.

The provisional answer key for the first stage exam was posted the previous day, and objections to the answer key can be submitted on the FSS CPA exam website from that day until March 5. The finalized answers will be disclosed in mid-March after review by external experts.

The final successful candidates will be announced on Friday, April 4. Pass results can be checked on the FSS CPA exam website and the Financial Services Commission website.
