Gwangju City is launching an initiative to remove illegal advertisements around schools to ensure the safety of children on their way to and from school.
According to Gwangju City on the 24th, starting today and continuing until the 28th of next month, the city will conduct intensive inspections around elementary schools, specifically within 300 meters of the main school gates in child protection zones and within 50 meters in a straight line of school gates in educational environment protection zones.
The main targets for removal include: ▲harmful advertisements with obscene, decadent, or provocative content near schools ▲illegal mobile advertisements such as banners that obstruct pedestrian passage or drivers' view ▲political banners that exceed the limit of two per neighborhood or violate installation standards ▲and signs at risk of falling that could endanger students during their commute.
The city plans to immediately remove illegal advertisements and simultaneously impose administrative penalties such as fines on violators. In particular, the city has instructed the Office of Education to independently remove illegal advertisements such as various recruitment banners frequently installed on school fences and walls.
Park Geumhwa, head of the Architectural Landscape Division, stated, "With the new school term starting, we are conducting a comprehensive clean-up of illegal advertisements along school routes to ensure student safety," and urged, "Please prioritize the safety of children and help create a safe and clean urban landscape free from illegal advertisements."
